When she wept
The salty sting of sorrow
Quenched parched lips
Dripped from velvet cheeks
And
Splashed upon
her painted toe.
One,
then another
Rolling.
A turbulent river
Of her hearts blood
Spreading elegantly across
The white satin sheet
Liquid pain
Like smoke,
Vanishing when it dries.
In the darkness
Where the tears find their home
Bitterness follows
And seeps in
From a crack in the wall.
Waiting patiently
The clock tick tick tocks
In rhythm with her desperation
She swallows the dark night
Puts the bitter pain
In her pocket
And
Waits for the light
Of a day
she will never see.
