I don’t have anything to say tonight,
At least nothing profound
That will melt your tears into my cup.
If I were to speak,
Dissapointment may leak from my tongue
And make a scratch in that iron heart.
Through many suns and more moons,
And even around a rainbow or two
Time did what it does. Brought moments.
Followed always by the stinging cold rain
And the reality of reeking pain.
Such a grand thing to be
A human in despair.
Fortunate for the shoulders
To bear it and belief it will
Become a lesser burden
With the passing of the sun
And more moons.
Once around the rainbow?
Drop it there, on the other side.
Words to the wise fall short
Upon ears that will not hear.
In that case I have much to say tonight
That will melt your tears into my cup.
