Emotions wither
In random abundance
And the chill
of a cold heart
Brushes away
the last evidence
Of compassion.
Unseen, unheard, unbidden
The piercing pain
of the tongue
Lashes deep
Into the soul
of innocence.
The simplicity of a word
Is minimized
And into the abyss
Of destruction it is cast.
Unheeded prayers from
Gasping hearts
Are lost in the ruins
Of A once gentle spirit.
Disillusioned and wary
Young eyes seek for
The key that will
Appease a man
That can never
Be pleased.
